In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Recon are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Taycan doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Recon. But it costs extra on the Taycan.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Recon’s standard Hill Descent Control allows you to creep down safely. The Taycan doesn’t offer Hill Descent Control.

The Jeep Recon’s 360-degree camera has integrated front and rear camera washers, ensuring clear, all-weather visibility without the need for manual cleaning. In contrast, the Porsche Taycan lacks camera washers, requiring you to manually clean the cameras for optimal performance.

Both the Recon and the Taycan have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Jeep Recon weighs 920 to 1482 pounds more than the Porsche Taycan. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Jeep’s powertrain warranty covers the Recon 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Porsche covers the Taycan. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Taycan ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are almost 12 times as many Jeep dealers as there are Porsche dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Recon’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jeep vehicles are better in initial quality than Porsche vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jeep above average in initial quality. With 2 more problems per 100 vehicles, Porsche is rated lower.

The Recon’s electric motors produces 248 more horsepower (650 vs. 402) and 318 lbs.-ft. more torque (620 vs. 302) than the Taycan Performance Battery’s standard electric motor. The Recon’s electric motors produces 248 more horsepower (650 vs. 402) and 189 lbs.-ft. more torque (620 vs. 431) than the Taycan 4 Performance Battery’s standard electric motors. The Recon’s electric motors produces 221 more horsepower (650 vs. 429) and 311 lbs.-ft. more torque (620 vs. 309) than the Taycan Performance Battery Plus’ standard electric motor.

For better traction, the Recon has larger tires than the Taycan (265/70R18 vs. 225/55R19).

The Recon has a standard full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Taycan; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

For greater off-road capability the Recon has a 2.2 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Taycan (9.1 vs. 6.9 inches), allowing the Recon to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

For excellent aerodynamics, the Recon has standard flush composite headlights. The Taycan has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

The Recon’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Taycan’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Recon to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Taycan doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

The Recon has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Taycan doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
