In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Recon are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Recon has standard Park Assist with Rear Stop that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Recon. But it costs extra on the Macan Electric.

Both the Recon and the Macan Electric have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Jeep Recon weighs 719 to 1108 pounds more than the Porsche Macan Electric. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Jeep’s powertrain warranty covers the Recon 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Porsche covers the Macan Electric. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Macan Electric ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are almost 12 times as many Jeep dealers as there are Porsche dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Recon’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jeep vehicles are better in initial quality than Porsche vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jeep above average in initial quality. With 2 more problems per 100 vehicles, Porsche is rated lower.

The Recon’s electric motors produces 295 more horsepower (650 vs. 355) and 205 lbs.-ft. more torque (620 vs. 415) than the Macan Electric’s standard electric motor. The Recon’s electric motors produces 248 more horsepower (650 vs. 402) and 141 lbs.-ft. more torque (620 vs. 479) than the Macan 4 Electric’s standard electric motors. The Recon’s electric motors produces 141 more horsepower (650 vs. 509) and 16 lbs.-ft. more torque (620 vs. 604) than the Macan 4S Electric’s standard electric motors. The Recon’s electric motors produces 20 more horsepower (650 vs. 630) than the Macan Turbo Electric’s standard electric motors.

The Recon’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs standard on the Macan Electric are solid, not vented.

For better traction, the Recon has larger tires than the Macan Electric (265/70R18 vs. 235/55R20). The Recon’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Macan Electric (265/70R18 vs. 255/45R21).

The Recon has a standard full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Macan Electric; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

For greater off-road capability the Recon has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Macan Turbo Electric (9.1 vs. 8.8 inches), allowing the Recon to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Recon’s minimum ground clearance is .2 inch higher than on the Macan Electric (9.1 vs. 8.9 inches).

The Recon has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Macan Electric with its rear seat up (30.3 vs. 22.1 cubic feet). The Recon has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Macan Electric with its rear seat folded (65.9 vs. 50.6 cubic feet).

The Recon has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The Recon’s standard easy entry system glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the Macan Electric.

The Recon’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Macan Electric’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Recon has a standard rear wiper. A rear wiper costs extra on the Macan Electric.
